In addition to business entities, buildings and floors, area types in soobr are a key component of the data model.
Area types
In soobr, a space or area is referred as an area, which is treated as a unit in the cleaning process. For example, an office, a toilet, a forecourt in front of a building or a foyer can be an area. This area is assigned an area type in soobr, which determines which activity types, frequencies and service numbers should be applied to this type of area.
Generic areas and special areas
A distinction is made between generic areas and special areas. Generic area types are those area types that cover the standard configuration of power types, frequencies and power numbers and can thus be used for the majority of areas in a building. Special areas are created for surfaces that deviate from the standard case.
Special areas are special cases of areas that differ from generic areas with respect to one or more of the following characteristics:
- Cleaning frequency differs compared to the generic area type (e.g., daily cleaning of the specialty area compared to weekly cleaning of the generic area).
- Different activity types (e.g., a lavabo is included on the special area and not included on the generic area).
- Different service numbers (e.g. the generic office space is an open-plan office, and a special area with a lower service type is created for the individual offices).
Application example between generic areas and special areas
Initial situation: In an office building all office areas except two are cleaned in the same way. The two deviating areas differ from each other in the following characteristics:
- One office has carpeting instead of a hard-surface floor and therefore must be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
- Another office has a lavabo, which the others do not have.
The following area types are created for this office:
- Generic area type: Office
- Special area 1: Office with textile floor
- Special area 2: Office with lavabo
