Planning Mode replaces the test environment for customers. This allows users to create a copy of the active version directly in the Cockpit at any time, for example, to test changes to frequencies or tour assignments, or to simulate different schedules.
Advantages of Planning Mode
With the Planning Mode feature, changes can be made and tested in a copy without affecting the active version, and there is no need to rely on a timely copyback to the test environment.
Planning Mode is particularly suitable
- when tours need to be eliminated and tour assignments require fundamental adjustments.
- when a new schedule of services needs to be implemented.
- when different schedules (e.g., at universities during semester breaks) are in effect and these recur. This allows them to be created once and activated as needed.
Limitations
Not all levels are versioned. This means that changes or updates cannot be made on all levels that will be applied upon activation.
Levels marked with a yellow bar are not versioned; for example, if substitute templates copied from the active version are deleted in an inactive planning mode, they are also deleted in the active version. The reverse is also the case; if a substitute template is deleted in the active version, it is also deleted in the inactive planning modes.
Similarly, quality control templates created in an inactive planning mode are not carried over when that planning mode is activated. These must be created in the active version.
Levels marked with a blue bar are versioned. Changes only affect the planning mode in which they were made.
Planning Mode Statuses
A planning mode can have one of four statuses:
Active: This planning mode is currently in use at the economic entity. A planning mode with this status cannot be deleted.
Inactive: This planning mode has been created an can be edited, activated, or deleted.
Archived: This planning mode was active but has been replaced by a new planning mode and thus automatically achrived. Planning modes with this status can be reactivated or, if no cleaning has been performed on them, deleted.
Faulty: If a planning mode was started, for example, during a release, the creation process may be interrupted or canceled. This is indicated by the Faulty status. The system automatically creates a new planning mode with the same name within the next 10 minutes. The faulty planning mode can be deleted.
